I have 2, matching crappy single shot 16 gauges that have never been shot since they were given to my dad 30 years ago. I've given some thought to having one of them ceracoated, cut/choked, and tapped for a red dot just for a cool turkey gun, but I don't really care that much about turkey hunting.

I was gonna cut the barrel off the other one at 18" for a snake charmer, because every snake charmer I've ever needed was empty because someone grabbed the shells to shoot a dove...but nobody carries a 16 anymore.
Yeah, my son is 9 years old and only ways 55lbs, lol, he will have a hard time shooting our 20ga. So, .410 it is.

JFT's Dad, PoPo, came to my place and after killing a turkey with his crossbow on day 1 wanted to kill a turkey with his childhood 410 (note the duct tape still keeping it together. They had a load similar to yours with small heavy shot. Something like the #9 TSS .....

      The result....DRT!....getrdone!

I would be concerned with the shot size in the new Federal ammo. 9 and 10 shot? I have killed a lot of turkeys with 6 shot but prefer 5, I think that it is ideal. Also shocked at the price of the new ammo!

My .410 with #9 TSS is equally as effective as my 12 gauge with the typical lead turkey loads. I don’t take shots beyond 35-40 yards anyway. Unless you’re aiming for the gizzards, there’s zero benefits to larger shot size. I will say though, the Federal ammo patterned horribly out of mine. The Boss and Apex loads patterned very well. I love hunting with mine. Turkey are the only birds I hunt anymore so my 12 gauge has been riding pine for a couple years now.

My son , who just turned 50, shot his first turkey with. 410, 3 inch #6 shot at 15 yards. The first things hat hit the ground was his head and that boss never flopped of moved!! I have shot a bunch and have seen a bunch shot with 12 and 10 gauge and none died like that one did

I have to admit...I was skeptical of the people saying that the 410 was enough gun, but that pattern looks pretty impressive.

Do you have a comparison pic of a 12 or 20 gauge by chance? I would be interested to see the difference.

That pattern is solid, but it would be hard to compare patterns apples to apples with the other two just because of the crazy difference pellet count. .410 has 294 pellets per shell while the 12 gauge has 905
