shoot a big bodied buck and use the new cape to have this one remounted. Or post on hear that you need a cape and maybe someone will save you one off of a managment deer

Just get a new cape and re-mount it, unless you really want to keep the original cape. I'm not a taxi but it seems like it would cost quite a bit to fix what's there, and it will be hard to make it look good. Hard to hide the nose on a shoulder mount.

Get a new cape and have it redone. That's what I would do. Of course, I'm not a taxi- maybe some of them on here may know some fixes.

Wow, he does look like he's falling apart. I know a good psychiatrist a friend used to "get his head back together".

Seriously, what bboswell said..............get a new cape. This happened to me w/ a blackbuck and the taxi found me another.

          Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Ya, just have him re-mounted. Most taxidermists either already have or can find spare capes. The nose on that old mount is actually an easy fix...but the rest of him is another matter. Best bet is to have a re-mount done.

Hey guys, I appreciate all of the input on what i should with the deer; its looks like i will remount it. Does anyone know what it would cost to remount it?

The cost depends on where you take it. Gonna cost the price of the mount, plus the cost of a replacement cape. For me, that would be $595 for the mount, and $0-$125 for the cape.

I had a set of horns I had turned into a full shoulder mount. The taxi actually charged me LESS than a regular mount because he could buy a cape cheaper than he could get a green hide treated...

seems like around $350 5 years ago...

                      YMMV

Yeap, pretty easy fix, have it redone by a taxi that you trust, Mr. Love is a good one..

Most Taxidermist can get a cape of your liking to recover the old mount...however I would back all the way up to square one and have a new head and neck done. Just done one for my Dad and I'm glad I did.
