    Mobile home gurus ??

So my mom finally got her new double wide mobile home. Well almost. Should be delivered early next week.

Looks like the walls have R-22 insulation but the floor only has R-11 I'm debating getting her spray foam for underneath her new home. She will be getting hardi-plank underpinning. So wondering if it's worth getting the spray foam. Think it will still help enough to notice? Will it cause any issues like getting to utilities running on the under side of the home?

Anyone know of any spray foam guys in Leander area? Or flatwork guys? She want to extend her sidewalk and have a little patio/ covered porch.

Insulation is a big word for dead air. I doubt you could tell a difference, but I’m no guru. I did however, survive a winter in Williston, ND in a travel trailer on top of a hill, with foam board and metal underpinning. The only other thing I had was a heat lamp under my black water tank. A month or more of -0 temps each night and single digits in the daytime. Some of those temps at night were -15 or lower. The only time anything ever froze was my water when a heat tape burned out, (but that was on the outside), and when the bulb burned out on the heat lamp. I noticed a small mountain of poop building in my tank and replaced the bulb, no more problems.

i'm thinking under pinning would be more beneficial and still would be able to access plumbing and wiring. just a thought

You can always add batt insulation to the framing for the underpinning.

I wouldn't spray under a mobile home. Skirt it well. There's too much stuff under there that's gonna go wrong eventually that you will need to get too at some point. Batts and poly would be my choice for underneath or something similar if I was going to try that.

Thanks guys. You helped me decide. Hopefully the underpinning will be good enough. If not we can try other insulation. I'd like to think a new pretty costly mobile home would be good to go anyway.
