    Anyone Make Custom Chaps?

Anyone here make chaps and chinks? or recommend someone that makes custom chaps and chinks. I have a pair of custom chaps that I’ve had since I was 15 (they’ve been resized several times ) I have patches at my calf that have been replaced and I’m thinking it’s time to retire my favorite chaps and get a new pair. I have some young horses to finish this spring/summer so I'm thinking it might be better to go with a pair of chinks.

Thanks I've tried several pair off the shelf and they never fit right. I'm also thinking I want a zipper instead of clips

The guy I know is new to the area and is still working from his garage that he's made into a small shop. I'd give him a call and talk with him and see what he can do.

Oliver saddlery in ammirillo best you can have made! Step threw chinks, no zippers or snaps, great people! Had mine made before I went & cowboyed in Colorado, wore em every day for 6 months, super comfortable & 250.00$ if I remember, but that was 2007, might have gone up a little, do yourself a favor & look these guys up!

The lady that made my chaps years ago made them out of her house and they are the best ones I've ever had. I have another custom pair that I don't care for, they twist. I think they were cut wrong.

Thanks I will. Step through? not sure I understand that but I think I like the idea of having a zipper instead of snaps. Maybe because in 20+ years of riding I've always had chaps.

You will love the step threws, there is no snap or zipper to have pinch or bind yer back thigh, u just step into the chinks & pull em on, Oliver gets your measurements & builds em in 10-14 days, sorry I can't explain the step threw better, but its an older way of building leggins, but super comfortable!

No they're a little loose so your leg can slip thru but still fits fine.

Ive been getting leather gear from Miss Cheryl Rigotti in Sinton. She knows her leatherwork and pretty reasonable

No mam, not at all, there is a little jiggle involved with each leg & they fit right up, no bunching, no binding, no dang zipper to scratch up yer saddle, if you will wait till tommorow, ill get pics of mine & have nanny slayer post em to this thread for you, I always had zipper or snap leggins till I got my Oliver's, just don't make a move till you at least see em, will put up pick tommorow for sure

I would love to see a pic of them. I have an idea of what I want. I went pretty simple with these last ones. they're tan with a blue/green (not teal) ribbon of leather going up the side and the same color belt. The belt on the last one I could change out (I had to) it use to have my initials on it. She used hundreds of these small beads and they were white with my initials in the blue green.

Mike at Capital Saddlery is the one that has resized my chaps but his custom chaps are really expensive He's really nice. He made me a custom pair of weighted reins while I waited one time. It was right after they moved from down town and stopped selling tack.
