    Texas Rangers 2025 Season Thread

Pitchers and catchers reported today at the Rangers’ facility in Surprise, AZ. Time to get the season thread started!

Now that the stank of the Dallas Cowboys is gone for the year and Luka has been shipped out, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Stars on the only hope.... Hoping the new blood and healthy pitching can turn it around from last year. Sucks that we lost Yates the closer but next man up. Need Seagar, Langford, Jung and Carter to stay healthy and Semien to hit like 2023. Lets kick some azz!

Also games will be broadcast on the Victory+ Channel. Its on an app if you don't have Direct TV or Spectrum and the season long pass is $100. Sucks for us Dish users but it is what it is in today's world of streaming.

After a very subpar 2024, I'm hoping Evan Carter, Jonah Heim and Adolis Garcia all return to their 2023 form and Jung finally stays healthy for an entire season. They added 6 relievers in the offseason - it will be interesting to see how the bullpen shakes out. Opening day can't get here soon enough - go Rangers!

        DAY ONE!

I am looking forward to a better year in 2025 and Chris Y and the boys have been busy making moves to get back on top.

I was really happy to hear that Eovaldi (a Free Agent!) decided to re-up with the Rangers.

To me, DeGrom is the Big Wild Card. I almost do not want to think about him at the top of the rotation, healthy and throwing his old stuff. If he still has it (likely) and he does not come down with a major injury (50/50), then I think he is either the Ace or the #2 behind Eovaldi, and everybody else jumps a notch (our pretty good #2 now becomes a really good #3 and so on). Without him, it is a little more uncertain. And I really want to see what Tyler Mahle has to offer, he could be a pretty major player (again if he is back to form and healthy).

They added a pretty good hitting catcher Kyle Higashioki to split time with Jonah Hiem. Maybe that will help Jonah get back to being a decent switch hitter with some power.

They traded Nate Lowe away, but brought in Jake Berger who can play first, and I think is a better clutch hitter.

I'm ready! Hopefully Carter is healthy and can beat out Taveras for CF. Taveras has just let me down to many times to be our everday CF in my opinion. Rest of the field looks pretty solid, and we always have smith/duran if we catch an injury or too. Big question will be healthy starters and how these new bullpen arms shape up, but only time will tell that. I am looking forward to seeing Kumar Rocker get a full season under his belt, the flashes we have seen have been much more promising than Leiter...

That new app has me fired up. Baseball is the biggest pain to watch on TV with all the contract disputes and $$$$. Looking forward to watching lots of games this year.

Nice intro to start the season thread. I'm expecting a bounce back year.

                    I hate streaming.

Really looking forward to DeGrom, Leiter, and Rocker, and seeing what they can do. I don't think a lot of the rest matters if they aren't good, but Carter, and Jung could change the shape of things if they can be healthy. I'm not confident about Carter though....he is awfully young to have back problems like that.

its gonna be a long month and a half...

I think you will have a great time. It's fun to just wander around between the various practice fields as they get their work in. A part of the trip I really enjoyed was talking baseball with other fans at happy hour each evening at the Embassy Suites where we stayed. With 15 teams in the Cactus League there were fans there from all over the country -
