Computer stolen

Is there any way to find out where my computer might be through space aged IT stuff? I dont have the serial number.

Yep--they can locate where it is based on them logging on to a wireless network using the computer's IP address--at least that's what I've heard. Say they are at Starbucks, etc. Just got to get the cops there in time, and ID your property w/o the serial numbers by stuff in your files, etc.

However--I don't have any idea who "they" might be--talk to some of the smart guys/gals in the IT business.
