    Axis pillows

Thinking about getting a couple made from a few hides I have. Maybe around 16" x 16" or so. For any of yall that have had em made what's the going rate per pillow?

My go-to processor sells hide pillows in their office. In the link is their pricing to get an idea.

Cow Creek Taxidermy & Game Processing is a family-owned business that specializes in complete deer processing & taxidermy.

My axis mount does not shed. Maybe yours are tanned properly

I didn’t say anything about a mount. He asked about axis pillows. Some hair will shed off them unless they are never moved around.

$325/pillow and that was a few years ago… I’m sure prices haven’t gone down any

Mine don’t shed either, but are rarely moved or touched

I've had some made from my own hides which may save a few bucks. Check out North Texas Tannery. They are often recommended for tanning hides, but they also make some nice pillows and often have a few in stock for sale. I have Axis and whitetail pillows on couches and haven't had a shedding problem. I just checked their site and they'll make pillows from your hides for $70. You may have to purchase your own filler, but that's still a lot less than buying one from an art and crafts shop.

My wife makes ours. Hide, leather or faux leather and sew. Too easy. $325/pillow is stupid expensive. You should be able to get them made for $75ish especially if providing the materials.

I mathed wrong… $260 to get the hide tanned, then $150/pillow… so $560 total, or $280/pillow.

They came out perfect so not really worried about cost, especially since they’ll be a centerpiece on the couch literally forever

North Texas Tannery price list still shows $70/axis hide for tanning and $70 to make the pillow (When I first used them it was $45 for tanning . They've been doing this a long time.) So, you're looking at about $150/pillow. But there is a 9-month tanning period so if you don't want to wait there is a premium to buy one from a store. It's probably worth a call to see what they have in the shop for sale at a lower price than some other places.

Had one made by Damuth in Brady. Was $100 ad on with the axis shoulder mount, which was $825

This is still a great price to have them tanned and pillows made

If you have the hide tanned already why not just make the pillows yourself then they will mean more. Just my .02

Because I have more money than I have pillow making ability. 😄

Well I recon that's a good problem to have. I on the other hand would be having to make my own 🤣
