    Daily bible reading 2/16/12

    Matthew 6:25-34

Do Not Worry - “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

When we are tryin to do it ourselves, we are always worrying about what the world says we should have. But when we let God work, theres nothing to worry about. Easier said than done.

              Let go and let God.

I'm trying, but I'm not there yet. Someday I will totally let go, I'm praying for that very thing so many times.
If you have time, send one up for me.

This is a special passage for me.

Several years ago when I was just a year or two into my business, my daughter and I were driving down the highway. I don't remember where we were going, but I do remember that Morgan was in 1st or 2nd grade and she was sitting over there reading something while I was deep in thought and worry about business and finances and such. As I was feeling hopeless because I couldn't figure out how everything was going to work financially, Morgan spoke up.

She said, "Dad! Listen to this!" And then she read me this same passage. It was the first time she had ever read it, and in her wisdom as a 6 or 7 year old she trusted that every word of it was true. She was so excited to know about this, and she just had to share the good news with me.

I had to fight back the tears. We talked about how cool it is that God knows each and every one of us, and He blesses us and takes care of us even in situations that seem hopeless and lost.

It was amazing to me that God used my little girl to tell me EXACTLY what I needed to hear at that moment. I thought, "OK, God. I hear you. You got this, and I trust you."

Yes sir, Mr. Shane, thats exactly how it works! I think this is harder for men than women. I know once my husband got his mind wrapped around this one his colitis dissappeared.
