It isn't the first time. Colorado did it for John Denver's death, and there have been others. It's sad to hear of Whitney Houston's death, but I think lowering flags for her is overboard. She was a good entertainer, but not a national hero like our cops, firefighters, and military men and women. Lowering a flag should be reserved for those heroes I mentioned, and maybe for politicians.

I agree with the exception of POLITICIANS. For the most part, the majority of those are a "DEN OF THIEVES" who prosper off the AMERICAN TAX PAYERS
Politicians are the only ones mentioned in the flag code for when to fly it at half staff. Not one mention of fallen military, but the timing and duration for several different political offices.
