Anyone on here brew their own beer?

My mother in law got me a Mr Beer micro brew kit for xmas. I made up a batch and it was actually quite good and it is pretty cheap to make. Just wondering how many of ya'll have experimented with brewing your own? If so, what kind of setup are you using and any favorite recipes? I'm really looking to upsize my operation, because 2 gallons of beer don't last very long.

I brew 5 gallons at a time, been at it for 5 or 6 years and never made a batch that tasted too bad to drink!

I get all of my ingredients from DeFalcos here in Houston, and use a book called Clone Brews for my recipes. Bottle my beer using a set of Grolsch swing top bottles, makes it much easier.

Gonna give a batch of wine a go next I think.

i use cat's meow 3 for recipes, and use only all-grain recipes. and as far as cheap, not so much. good. usually great. 5-6 gallon at a time.

Yeah.....when I said cheap....I was referring to buying the refill kits for Mr. Beer and just using the cans of HME and the booster. I know if you start shopping at the homebrew stores and doing the real brewing, the expenses will add up. This thread was really for me to kinda gauge whether I wanted to stick with the easy way, or go to more advanced techniques that will require an additional investment. As far as Cheap and easy.....the Mr Beer kit is both.

I have my first batch brewing as we speak. I bought my ingredients from Austin Homebrewing. Goofiefoot on here brews too. He gave a recipe that I am brewing next. You can search home brewing on here and see some of his posts.

I am an avid home brewer, I use an all grain system and do 5 gal batches. Also am a member of the cap and hare Homebrew club. Hit me up if you have questions.

I don't brew it but I get to drink them (drinking one now). A guy at work brews his own and shares with me. I order all of his stuff for him. He buys from Austin Homebrewing and Northern Brewer. You can get recipe kits, but he buys all of the ingredients seperate and makes alot of his own recipes.

Check out austinhomebrew.com. They have several for different types of ales, lagers, etc.

just getting started myself. I've got my 3rd batch brewing now. I've been ordering from northern brew. i just found a place over by The Woodlands I think I'm going to try next. It's fun and cheap, vs buying equivalent commercial brews.

                          Brewer for over 3 years.

I do all-grain, 5-10 gallon batches. I've just started working on a single-tier, single-pump brew rig (I'll post up in the DIY section once I get some more photos).

It's a great hobby and I've been very pleased with the results. Feel free to hit me up with any questions!

Ive got my first batch fermenting right now. I got the basic starter kit from Northern Brewer and it does 5 gal. I brewed a cream ale for the first batch. Going to start another batch in another week after I bottle this. My kit was $80 I believe and the recipe kit was around $20.
