Yall are crazy. Fresh rainbow trout is one of the best fish meals ever. A little salt pepper, sauté in a cast iron skillet with a little butter, and a squeeze a fresh lemon in it. Done.

You don’t need to skin them. Grill them and the skin peels off just a baked potato

          #fail !

Think I overcooked em. Especially the 2 that were a bit smaller. Had em wrapped in foil w lemon, butter, garlic, dill, and Ragin Blaze.
Small ones were kinda mushy. Bigger ones had an "ok" flakey texture but A LOT of bones stayed in the meat when tryn to remove the whole skeleton.

Flavor was great. No issue there.

Set Traeger to 400 and cooked 10 min per side. I dont like sushi, lol.

Gonna try em again same way but cook at lower temp & less time. Web said internal temp to 140-145°. Mine were 165°.

And I still have a mess of skinned ones that worry me.

I always thought the same. Every time I have eaten it I loved it. I have never eaten fresh water trout fried. Only blackened or done over an open fire.

Yeah, you way overcooked them. You basically steamed them and cooked way too long. Get them out of the easy bake oven and put them in a skillet so you can observe the cooking process. If you “have” to use the traeger, put a cast iron skillet in there and let it get to 400. Add olive oil and butter to the skillet and some fresh crushed garlic then put the seasoned fish in and cook 2-4 minutes per side MAX. Fish doesn’t take long to cook.

They're fun to catch but they can all go back to the river as far as I'm concerned. I got crappie, halibut, and tuna in my freezer. #fishsnob

Heck of a day on the water though OP! I have buddies that used to go to Broken Bow and all go there now to fish. LMF River is a circus nowdays.
