How do the Diamondbacks compare, clarity wise, to the Vipers?
I'm a huge fan of Vortex Optics, not only for the quality of their products, but their customer service too. I have the biggest Viper they offer on my .308 and I LOVE it, everyone who has looked through it loves it as well. A couple weeks ago, down at Thompson Temple's, I was sitting in the overlook blind at night waiting for hogs (which never came btw) and decided to look through the scope. It was actually brighter at 100 yards or so than I could see with the naked eye, honestly, looking through the scope, I could see things clear as day where as naked eye, everything was dark and I couldn't make out anything.
Kaitlin's rifle on the other hand NEEDS a new scope, badly. It's got a cheapo Tasco that was on it when I bought it second hand. While at the range, the sun flair (I think that's the term) was so bad neither of us could hardly see the target, and the eye relief is rediculous. She actually got scope bit from her .243, plus it's really finicky about eye position, you have to be perfect to see through it at all. I've been planning to get her a new scope for a while, but can't decide what to get her. I'm thinking Vortex for sure, but don't know what the quality levels are. I would get her a 4-12 Viper, but I don't want to spend $500 on a scope for a rifle that won't get used that much, so I was leaning more toward the Diamondback line.
