My son is researching the sig kilo. He's going in half on a rangefinder with me.

about 2 weeks in it suddenly started reading 1/2ish the distance….. ex. A true 40 yard flat ground would read 18-21. Nothing corrected it. They replaced. Unit 2 lasted about a week…. Same thing. Unit 3 they sent a replacement model 5k. It will eat a battery in no time flat. Called and they said it was “normal”. My 15 year old Nikon has the original battery, still works. Then it would read 2-7 yards difference from same spot (bow range) -/+ .5 accuracy at whatever ridiculous claim and can’t get within 7 @40. Cost me a wounded public buck that was 160”ish class animal. 7 yards hot @23 yards
they sent me another model “canyon”…. A lower level unit. So far it’s the most dependable it’s off on true yardage by a laughable amount… but it’s consistent… so I use it for now
smart is the only person that I know that bought the same time frame I did that still has the original unit. Everyone had the 1/2 yardage issue

I've had a Nikon rangefinder for over 10 years. Other than cleaning the optics every couple of years and replacing the battery a few times, it's always worked. I'm keeping it to give to my grandson when he bowhunts in a couple years.
When he bought a Sig, my son gave me his Vortex for rifle hunting. It's a nice unit, but it would not get the 1,300 yards, so I sent it back. They sent me a newer model with 1,800 yards. I've never been able to range beyond 900 yards when wondering how far away from me the other side of a mountain was aiming at large boulders. For my purposes, rifle hunting it works just fine.
