Yep. You might wire the sardine can of bone scrap to the bottom of the trap behind the trip platform. It will make them move around more and lesson the chance that they slip in and steal the bait.

If it's a grey, they are stupid and will easily get in that trap . If it's a red... it might take a leg hold

ID:	27012954 You can see my Have a Heart trap brushed in. I first cover it with a black plastic bag. I put dirt on the floor of the trap. I add a drop or to of fox pee.

We have caught several in live traps.
Most any bait but I use dried cat food

I have never caught a fox in DP’s and I have had them
out for 3 straight years in fox country

foot or conibear will work but the live trap will do it.

I assume the cage has a roof. Mine does

            BP.

Use chicken eggs, that’s the ticket. Caught 2 last year, back to back nights with chicken eggs.

Well, I'd setup at nite in a lawn chair with a 12 ga. And hunt!

3 years ago i had a red fox catch 2 of my chickens. Two days later I setup my shooting rest nearby about 1 hour before morning light and used my FoxPro e-caller with juvenile grey fox distress call. As soon as i hit that call he came running in within 60 yards and took a dirt nap after I sniped him with my .22 mag

Question #1 is why isn't that Lacy taking care of business?

I would try that live trap while I was trying to figure out a better option, though I don't see many people posting about catching foxes in live traps I don't know why it wouldn't work

Cause she's inside taking up most of the bed and scared of everything.

I don't know how far the coop is from the house, but my dad used to put a baby monitor in the coop with the receiver in his bedroom. Whenever a varmint would get in those hens would let him know. Then it was high brass #6 for whatever was getting in.....coons, fox, snakes...

Then I would not worry about her getting trapped, just keep her up a few days until the fox is dealt with

A few 220 conibears in buckets with various things suggested already for bait should take care of the problem within a few days

She's very active during the day. Fox is always there at night.

I've caught chicken killing bobcat with chickens in a wire cage with leg traps around it. Kept rest of chickens locked up tight in coop, caught him first night/day. Once they find easy food will come back constantly
