F250 Death Wobble - My Turn

I was driving too fast on a crappy road between Mathis and Sinton. Hit a few pot holes in a row and BAM, my turn on the death wobble. Pucker. Factor. High!

Slowed down, it stopped, and I continued on.

I understand how it happens with the way the truck front suspension is built. Question is, once i happens, is there any cause for concern with the truck? Am I more apt to have problems ahead?

I would have front end checked for any worn out parts and add a dual steering stabilizer in addition to the factory stabilizer.

How many miles on the truck? Is the truck stock ride height or do you have a lift? Check the ball joints for excessive play...

What year model, Trey? I got a new steering stabilizer for free under this safety bulletin/recall:

I’ve had it happen multiple times on my stock height f250.
once the front end components are worn enough for it to happen, it will happen again.
i had it fixed (new front end stuff + new shocks) and it’s been good sense.

just find someone that has experience fixing it vs just replacing parts hoping to fix it.

Happened to me on I10 out near Fort Davis.....every time I would exceed 45mph it would shake like it was about to fall apart. My truck is a 2011 F250 with 285k on the odometer so I was lucky for a long time. Had it trailered back to Houston where I rebuilt the whole front end (shocks, stabilizer, ball joints, sway bar bushings, radius arm bushings, tie rod ends, drag link end, track bar ball joint and bushing.) Figure it should last me a while!

I had it happen several times to me in the same spot on I-10 in Houston when I had my 2019 F250, which was stock at the time. I put a lift and bigger tires along with a dual steering stabilizer and it never happened again.

This is how I fixed mine. Rebuilt the entire front end on my 2012. I didn't get a death wobble until about 250k miles.

Had it on my 16. Took it to Hite's suspension specialties in Conroe. He said everything still seemed tight, but to change out steering stabilizer to one of these.
That was over 20K miles ago, and no other issues...

Get the upgraded adjustable track bar and it will fix it

I got it the first time just outside of Sinton also/ Dual steering stabilizer (like the other guys already said) fixed it.

Mine isn't a death wobble, but it's starting to shimmy a little. I am going to take it to powerstroke magic in cypress this month to get it fixed. 274k miles on her so front end may need to be rebuilt.

I was pulling a 16ft trailer in downtown San Antonio when mine 1st did it pretty scary stuff
then it happened again with the wife In the truck, scared her enough she wouldn’t ride in it again
no over sized tires, good shocks, steering stabilizer, Ford didn’t have a explanation! Sold it ( didn’t need a 1 ton after selling a track hoe ) . But I don’t think I would buy a straight axle ford again
