    Seems a bit early

I found this the day before Christmas. What's the earliest you have found one? Click image for larger version Name:	20241226_121400.jpg Views:	0 Size:	534.4 KB ID:	27003431

Ya every now and then we will find some in mid-late December.

That antler seems weather bleached, and the stump seems clean to be this year's drop.

I have found a couple in December, but it is a bit unusual. Mostly mid January through early March around my area.

Saw big buck with both dropped chasing a doe fawn near Voca years ago after Christmas.

Had a pipe creek buck’s horn pop off while hanging him in Pipe Creek about Christmas.

Never found sheds this early though.

We have a big deer on our property that is 6 this year. Each year he has been dropping his antlers a little bit earlier than last year. I saw him with a slick head and then found one of his two on December 13th, Friday the 13th this year. Last year he dropped around the 18th and in 2022 I think it was right around Christmas.

I have two shed now. Different properties. Several tbhers have heard this story but here goes.....

Sunday evening, I took my wife hunting. I knew I had 3 bachelor groups coming to the food plot but they were getting there right after dark . These groups historically spar constantly so I took my horns

First deer I rattled in came fast. Bald square head. Thick neck. tarsals black all the way too hooves. Grabbed binos and yep it was a freshly shed buck! He was all fuzzed up mad. He started trying to hook a tree with each pedicle! Eventually he got the bark off! Then he peed on his hocks and pawed the ground like working a scrape!!!! All this 40yds from us.

I rattled more and ended up with 11 bucks inside 60yd before my wife shot an old timer. Never seen anything like that shed buck looking for trouble.

I've always been very careful dragging a trophy by the horns during late season. I remember my Father popping both antlers off while loading a huge buck 40 years ago! Lol, I'll never forget the look on his face! Taxidermist was able to attach no problem, but it was funny.

I had an injured (from fighting) buck that shed both antlers before the end of December last year. Other than that one I had one unique (antler) buck that would shed before the end of January. All the rest of mine are generally late February through sometime in April.
