    Northern Lights after midnight tonight??

It looks like there's a chance of northern lights after midnight tonight. They may not be visible to us in Texas, but they might show up. Looks like around 3am is the highest chance, according to the KP numbers I'm seeing on the Aurora app. I wish it would be 8pm instead of 3am.

I'll probably set my camera up to take an overnight timelapse. Hopefully I'll catch something....

Central time is 6 hours earlier than UTC, so subtract 6 hours from the times shown on this chart....

Yeah, I don't plan on being awake at 3am. But I will set my camera up to take pics all night long while I sleep. Fingers crossed...

Well, it was a bust. The highest activity is happening right now, so not visible in the daylight even if it is all the way down to Texas. I got a cool timelapse of the stars at least.

Thanks for trying, Shane. Cool video! Seems the video is almost like a vortex. And you had the cam facing center of it.

Yes sir. Facing north. The north star is the one that isn't moving. It's lined up with the North Pole, so you see how the earth rotates as the stars move around the sky.

Take an extra jacket. Post pics when you thaw out!
