I had read we were supposed to have a dry winter. 9" of rain in my gauge in December.

I wish we would actually get some winter during deer season!
No good late season hunts here.

Believe it when it shows up for sure.
I don’t like ice and snow but love the colder temperatures

Hunting elk or bison? Any animals on the refuge right now?

Looking at my weather app, no major systems or outrageous weather through January. Not sure what the original post is depicting or when.

Also, my preferred weather is 65 and low wind...

Would have been nice to have some cold weather in November and December for deer season.

I haven’t seen anybody talking about how it might affect Texas. I do see lows here forecast to be in the upper 20’s starting next Su day but that’s not unusual for January in north Texas.

The Euro model has been trying to dump a series of 3-4 Arctic blasts in to the central US since before Christmas. The GFS has finally indicated the same , but they aren’t quite in agreement on where and timing or intensity.

the euro tends to shift it east of Texas with i35 being about the western edge and the bulk of the cold going into the Ohio valley and southeast us.

GFS brings it more west diving deep into Texas

it will be middle or late next week before we really know anything of value, and even then storm systems will be vague.

The big take away here is the pacific oscillation and North Atlantic oscillation are shifting in a manner that they appear to begin blocking the harsh cold in a manner that it’s only release path is driving into CONUS

im at our place in Coleman and saw a butterfly today and the mesquites still have nearly full foliage. It’s nuts… and was warmer yesterday & today than it was during archery season

I may have my models backwards.

I couldn’t care less what the temp is. I just need rain down south. Have only had 1/2” since June.
