    Shotgun Gurus

Has anyone ever shot a Charles Daly semi-automatic shotgun...i've been looking at these and they are nice looking guns for the price i was just curious about there function.

I used to have one. I thought it was a pretty good gun. It ain't a Benelli, but the prices are good and they go bang when you pull the trigger!

Save your pennies and buy a Browning Gold, Win. Super X2, Benelli M2. Auto shotguns are not something you want to go budget on. I had a Stoeger M2000jam-O-matic. Sold it, bought a Benelli M1. Best choice ever. If you are on a budget, look for one of the above mentioned used. I didn't mention the Remington 1100 or 11-87, just my .02 but Remington lags behind in quality and technology in auto guns. I will get disagreements on this but they are heavy and problematic in less than ideal environments(duck blinds, mud, muck) vs. the others.

Never have. I like a Pump gun myself.

I would stay away from the Charles Daly...very questionable reliability. When I bought my Benelli M1, I had a guy tell me at the gun show that they were the same gun...what an idiot.

Stay away from the CD autos. Very spotty history. Cheap autos are hit or miss. Do you want to buy a shotgun that MAY or MAY NOT work correctly? In my opinion, buy a pump (Moss. 500, Rem. 870, or Borwning BPS) or save your money and invest $500 or so in a good used auto.

                    I've got two. A 20ga and a 12ga 3.5. Never a problem.

When Benelli told me in that snobby british accent that I would just have to wait for one. I went and bought two and had change left over for a third.

Great guns for the money. Their customer service is second to none. I wanted a light spring for the 20ga to shoot 3/4 loads and they sent one for free. Later the cap had a little crack in it, They sent a new one and through in some "o" rings for free.

I did miss adding the Berreta and Franchi autos to my list. The Franchi is probably one of the better budget minded autos on the market. I still like the Inertia System of the Benelli. It will work where a gas auto will fail in dirty, muddy conditions.

I would save my money but like Luck of the Draw said I heard that their customer service is excellent.

absolutley nothing wrong with a CD semi-auto. It's just like anything else, you can pay $300 for a CD and kill the same amount of birds as you could with a $800-$1,200 Beretta Teknys or Benelli. I'm not by any means saying that the beretta and benelli are not better guns, but I am saying that you can kill just as many birds with the $300 gun as the $1,000 dollar one. It all depends on what your buying habits are. If your like me ,you would not even think of buying a gun or bow at a $800 price tag. Not saying that those that would are wrong for doing so at all, just not my style. I'll take the cheapest thing I can find that will get the job done. I have a Benelli Nova 12 gauge pump, a CD 12 gauge semi-auto, and a New England Firearms single shot 20 gauge, and a Mossberg 835 unti-mag pump 12 gauge. that is four guns for the price of one beretta or high end benelli model.

Steve, a friend of mine and coworker, bought one in 20 gauge. First he had issues with FTE, then it started to double fire on him. Now granted, he did not send it back to CD for work, but that's two problems in one gun, and two BAD problems at that.

But, granted I have never owned one myself. I have had a Stoeger 2000 and I had no problems with it at all. It was a good gun. But, as I stated in my post, cheap guns are hit or miss. Some are good and some are not, you take a chance...

i like the benellis also, i know it turned alot of people away the last couple of years because of availability but that was because they were making spec ops shotguns for the marines and the navy seals.
