    Camping Generator Recommendations

Did some searching on here and online and found some leads but didn’t quite find what I was looking for.

Looking for recommendations for a quiet generator I can take on truck camping trips. Looking to charge electronics (phone, cameras, headlamp, Zoleo, & bike batteries), power banks, and maybe run a few camp lights for a while at night if needed. Nothing with a major draw.

Have enough stuff that needs charging that my power banks usually only last a day or two. Bike battery is top priority. Don’t need this unit to power a whole house or an RV. Not running an AC unit or heater and won’t need it to run all night.

    Overall priorities would be:
    1. Noise - The quieter the better.
    2. Size/Weight – Some of these trips are solo. Don’t want it to take up half a truck bed or need 3 people to load/unload.
    3. Cost – Don’t mind paying for quality but this isn’t something that will be used every weekend.

    What says TBH?

Small sized Honda, hands down. Buy once, cry once.

I didn't believe you until the hands down part. Now I do.

I bought a WEN (American company) generator off of Amazon, and it's great. Couple of my buddies have bought various sizes as well and have been very pleased. I bought one big enough to run my 30 amp camper, but Chicken bought a smaller one and he likes it too.

these are compact and very quiet, they are inverter generators as well so it's nice clean power for electronics.

we bought an electric log splitter from the same company, which has been awesome. Since then I've bought some other tools for the shop from them and been very pleased with all of them.

Wen or the Habor Freight Predator 2000 would be really good for what you are wanting.

I have 2 of Predator 2000 and a Predator 3500. They are extremely quiet and efficient. The 2000 is super easy to load and move around.

If you’re going to be camping around salt water, go with the Harbor Freight Chinese Inverter Generator. If you’re going to keep it for a long time and not be around salt air, go with the Honda EU1000 or EU2200.

It’s not hard to build out a solar setup that will easily handle all of that and plenty of more. I run a Starlink, fridge, fans, lights, heater, and any charging needs pretty much indefinitely with 400 watts of solar panels and 300 amp hours of lithium batteries.

depending on what size power bank you have I might just add a 250+ watt folding solar panel and call it good. Maybe 300-400 watt. Also the DC charger linked above isn’t a bad idea.

What about one of those electric Power Stations from companies like Goal Zero, Jackery, Biolite, etc? Or was this what you meant by when you referred to Power Banks? They would charge everything you've mentioned and a lot more if you ever had the desire.

Could also be hooked up to a solar panel to help recharge the station as well.
