Please help, what I need to have a decent live scope set up for reasonable $$

Hello All, I know nothing about the livescope world, I've always been "old school" the Lowrance units I have are old and outdated, can someone please explain all the components needed, I mainly crappie fish, some bass fishing but want to know what I'm looking at money wise to upgrade as well. used units -vs- new, which makes might be better?
    Thanks for any input

I’m not much help, but my advice is to buy Garmin all the way, by that I mean the unit at the console as well as the front. Get a bigger screen up front than you think you’ll need and hook both units together so that whatever is visible up front is also on the console screen. If you only fish alone you might not need that, but if you fish with others and your bow width won’t accommodate two people it’s mighty handy. Ask Slew on here, he can give you what you need to know, and when you get your setup, take a guided trip with him and you will learn more about it than you will in ten trips on your own. Good luck !

Slew gonna say something else for maps other than Garmin. And since LS is a Garmin product, you aint.got another choice to run LS unless you want aftermarket screen which costs more anyway. Basically, lowrance ain't gonna run LS. Lowrance is gonna be active target and H-burd 360.

BPS ran bundle sales lately. Might still be an option. Another idea is shop used (crappie central) some change units like Bone thug changes bows

Bbg marine always had better deals and would sometimes offer better prices when you called. I think the guy just liked to talk.

However, someone told me they may have a new owner. Worth checking though

Quack is right about a different unit for maps but it ain’t illegal to run two units at the console. Hell, it’s only money !

That’s probably the number one mistake folks make. Give em a couple chances and move on. I see people spend all day in a 50’ circle and never move. I don’t know what your definition of reasonable is. I would suggest a Garmin Ultra 126 or a GPS map 1222 for the livescope. You’ll need a black box and a transducer as well. Some places still have the 32 and black box around for $1000. The 34 and black box is down to $1400. The graphs are around $1800 or so. Can probably catch a sale somewhere for less. BPS usually has deals for Black Friday. David with shut up and fish usually takes care of folks I send that way too. Tell him I sent you and he usually knocks some off.

You want the largest screen you can afford that’s for sure . And I highly recommend getting someone to install it for you then hire a guide to set it up for you with all the proper settings. It’s definitely worth the extra money when it’s set up correctly and once you watch some one that knows how to use one to teach the ropes on it .

                          Merry Christmas TBH family!!

I use a 1022 garmin for livescope. I have a ultra 122 on the console but you may want them to network which my units don't do. You can get it done for $1600 or so for 9 inch or $3200 for 12 inch depending on which models you choose. Nobody ever regrets buying the bigger screens.

Then you get to decide where to mount the scope which is a whole other decision!
