    Deer MIA

I’ve been wondering if anyone else is having issues with seeing deer. I’ve seen one deer in person and one buck in person, but he was not stopping. Running around a tree to and from my feeder. I know he was searching nose to the ground and running back and forth. But I’ve not seen a buck on my camera in about a month, and I’ve seen the same five pack of doe coming in and feeding, but not consistently. They have even slacked off. What gives? Any thoughts or input? I do have corn and my feeder has a small food plot around it that is really starting to take off. Any information is much appreciated. I think the area I’m hunting in here in north Texas just doesn’t have a huge population. But I’m not sure.

No issues with them on camera at the land my parents own in the between Marquez and Centerville.

In fact, I’ve had 3 bucks on camera on a very regular basis. That includes my target this year which I grazed with an arrow the first Saturday on general season (he jumped).

Beautiful 8 point that’s well outside of his ears, has to be an 18” or more spread.

I haven’t seen as many this year as usual early on, but my cameras and my stands are on food plots. Due to drought, my food plots were delayed about a month this year so it could be that. Plenty of acorns might have hurt too. I’m seeing lots of them on camera now though, but I’ve already killed two, so I’m not hunting much. Probably gonna hunt a little next week and sit out the muzzy season this year.

I’m seeing more deer now than I have all season in Oklahoma and east TX.

Several things could apply, imo. My summer bucks disappeared in August and are slowly reappearing back on camera now. A lot of deer could still be transitioning back to their summer grounds or are still roaming around looking for untapped tail. In my hunting area, things are pretty dry, so upping feed amounts on my feeders (or hand corn) have brought in more deer and kept them there a little longer. Most of the bucks I'm seeing now have dropped a ton of weight from the rut, so they are looking for food.

Fresh winter grasses and weeds are what they are eating. Get away from your blind and feeder.

Bucks rutting and chasing does, virtually abandon the feeders until after Christmas. Seeing lots of does on camera and an occasional buck but not like before the run

I am still seeing 3 to 11 deer every day on camera. Two spikes, Two Four points, Two Six Points, One Seven Point, Two Eight Points, One 9 Point and two Ten points.Mostly at night. A group of five does and another group of three does. One Pig and one Coyote on Camera. I took a decent 9 Point Second weekend of Gun Season so I only drive to property to keep feeder full. They are hammering the corn.

Do you feed them year round. My guess is they went back home. My deer from late summer early fall are all coming back. The deer that I have borrowed for 2 months are slowly disappearing

Yes, I have been feeding year round for two years.

I usually see 5-10 deer a sit at my place for the past five years. I have only sit 6 times this year and have seen a total of six deer. The acorns are killing me. It’s the worst I have seen in my lifetime!

Between Brady and Menard our bucks have all but vanished. An average hunt this week was 15 to 20 doe and 2-4 small yearling and 2 year old bucks.
                        Our 3, 4, 5 ,6 year olds have vanished.
I'm hoping a few have made it. It is the worst late season hunting I have seen on this ranch in 26 years. We feed heavy and year around.

The big deer I'm chasing is MIA but I think it's because he's trying to breed everything in 3 counties .

Starting to see some of the same things as SK. A couple of early season homebodies that have been gone for 2 months just came back this week. Overall sightings are up and down, depending on the day. Yesterday was slow on cams but today they were pretty busy. Everyone seems pretty hungry. I threw protein mixed in with my hand corn a couple of days ago. Aside from the deer all over it, I had turkeys picking it up too after they mopped up the corn.

South of San Angelo, we have had a horrible season deer movement wise, but the last two weeks, deer have started getting on feed better. Starting to see more and better deer. I'm done killing this year with my current taxi bill but I'll be taking a buddy and his kid out the last weekend trying to get his kid first buck....one of our mgmt deer. Hope this "on feed" trend continues.

All of the deer pictures we are getting in Rye, Tx are nocturnal. I have had only one daylight photo this month.
