    California Mule Deer

I’m very curious if anyone on here has hunted this state? I’ve been here 2 weeks around the Yosemite area and have seen enough that it intrigues me to start searching into this. I dove into some info online but dissecting it is kinda difficult. If anyone has done this before in this state and is willing to share some info, it would be much appreciated.

Mostly blacktail deer there. May be some MD too.

lived out there for a few years. My observations are: 1) There are a TON of people on public ground. Some hunters, some non-hunters. No matter how far back you think you are, someone is always close. 2) they have some true trophy animals but getting tags and access to land with trophy animals extremely tough. 3) all hunts require a draw for tags. 4) California has some of the most beautiful public land in the US. 5) Hunting is California is a unique experience, that everyone should try at least once.

Some of my favorite fly fishing is the sierras. Lots of black tail, chuckar and bears, public land is very crowded if you can’t get access to private. Mulies I didn’t see a ton of but depends what side of the state you’re on from what I understand

if you make friends with some farmers in central ca amazing pheasant hunting can be had

After reading an article by Chuck Adams, I decided to try for blacktail there in July. God willing I'll post a report this summer.
