    Metal detector advice..

I've never owned one and have never used one, but I am looking to buy a decent one. No cheap junk but not necessarily the best either.
    Any recommendations on these?

I like the Garrett as well. I was a metal detecting fool for a couple years. I found so many bullets it was insane. Best one was an old civil war Era mini ball. You never know what's just under the surface.

We use Garrett at work. I also use it to find my son's arrows in the backyard

You can’t go wrong with a Garrett

What if in addition to bullets, etc. you’re looking for gold nuggets? I’m in the area of Montana that had tge 1863 gold rush- I understand they were looking for the small flakes that were trapped in the sluices, and nuggets could be found in the tailing piles.

Yes, I'm definitely open to finding some gold nuggets.

I'm intrigued, but just don't have the bandwidth for another hobby, I have rented a cheapo detector twice from our local rental place. Both times I found my aggie ring. One instance, it was missing for six months.

IF I was going to buy a Garrett it would be the AT Series.

I’ve got a mid range one. Sure can find bottle caps, nails, and beer cans with the best of them.

                              Come up to Montana!

Google Alder Guch gold rush, Virginia City Montana gold rush. There’s lots of placer mining tailings in the creeks on BLM and National Forest creeks.
