    I found out why I'm a little off.

    My daughter has been do a ancestry deal following our roots back and she found out something very interesting. My 5th great grandfather on my dads side and my 6th great grandfather on my moms side was the same man. His name was Richard Fields (aka Texas ****) and was a pretty cool guy in Texas history until they killed him.

      My 26th great grandfather was William The Conqueror...also my wife's 30th great grandfather....but that is so distant I can't even use it as an excuse.

          I forget which number it was but one of my wife's great uncles was Quannah Parker and one of her grandparents whichever great it was helped found LSU.

              Probably related to my wife. My wife’s grandpa and mom are Parker. Quannah would’ve been a whatever number cousin.

              OP, nice bit of Texas history in that blood line. Very cool even if your grandma and grandpa at some point were half brother and sister or whatever.

                            My mother researched her family and found out things she wasn't ready for. It was amazing how many horse thieves, cattle thieves and civil war deserters got hung. My dad made us promise not to search his family's history. They were from Germany and evidently, they have a sketchy history.

                              Pretty sure that's normal for everyone if you go back 150 or 200 years.
