Perhaps what RR is referring to is something along the lines of a Compudose, Encore, Ralgro, Synovex, Revalor or the likes...
Don't get me wrong, I think he was making more of a blanketed generalization that he did not have backed up with facts (which I don't generally condone) BUTTTT anyways
With that being said.... I also don't think it is far-fetched for people to look at HF breeder bucks and think that there is something synthetic going into these animals. (For the record, I am neutral in all of this).
On that same thought, people also don't look at Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman and say, well he has clearly just had proper nutrition, a meticulously controlled environment and is a product of selective breeding... just food for thought.

I don’t know any of those drugs. Googled one.
Ralgro.
“RALGRO (zeranol implants) is an anabolic agent that increases rate of weight gain and improves feed efficiency of weaned beef calves, growing beef cattle, feedlot steers, and feedlot heifers. RALGRO also increases rate of weight gain of suckling beef calves.“

Yummy!!
I've never heard of any chatter of it happening with the very limited deer breeder operations I've been around, but I know enough about the greed of men that jabbing deer to make more $$$$ on bigger horns isn't a stretch when 'other' jabs are required in our farms & pets for said same $$$$.
When you start easily growing deer that have headgear that can barely be held up when 2yrs old, that is just creepy imo.
