    Childress area hunters ?

Where are you getting protein and how much are you paying per ton ? We use Double Down , we get it in 2000 lb totes, the place we get from will dump it into our feed wagon, they are only 5 miles from our gate so it works very well for us, the problem is we are paying 740.00 a ton. The farmer that I use manages a big ranch south of town, he said they get regular feed from the feed mill in town, it is not made specific for deer, I don't think I want to try that, any info appreciated.

Don’t know how big a pain in the neck it’d be to haul or where you live these days, but Tony’s there in Muenster has a good in house protein. I haven’t bought since this past summer when I sold out in that area but 16% was 12.50 for a 50 lb bag. I’m sure bulk is cheaper. I’m sure they can load bulk sack on a trailer and you could load it in your wagon with the tractor out there. Don’t know if all that would work for you or not, just a thought.

I have done that, I have to put bulk sack on a pallet we built in order to get it high enough to dump into trailer, pretty big pain in the butt, especially when doing 6 at a time. Going to check with Martindale feed in Valley View, they make some good stuff, we use it north of Muenster, getting it to Childress is the problem, if I go through the trouble of hauling it myself then there goes most of the savings, not sure if they would bring a feed truck out and fill a silo that far away, would be a 4 hour trip one way.

May check with other feed mills within an hour of you. Double downs a pretty hot feed in the gut of a Texas whitetail anyways
