What’s the confusion? Chocolate is 071 color registration code for the breed.

They've been recognized by the AKC since 1917. The British only recognize yellow and black, but I stopped caring what they thought in 1776.


I'm of the opinion, "If it ain't black, take it back". But I've seen some great yellows and far fewer good chocolates.

Same They finally allowed them to be recognized. I’ve had em all and they all make fantastic pets and companions…. But in the field there has always been a big difference in performance. Probably due to breeding since they use to just kill the chocolates of the litter

Looks to be an add….. not registration papers. They are saying what everyone calls them… a chocolate lab…. Or a black lab or yellow lab

inst of saying I have a lab…… and getting asked what color it is. I’ve never heard to done any other way honestly
