Looking for a place to rockhound.

Steve has to burn some time for work and wants to go rockhounding, i.e. fossils, minerals, arrowheads, etc. We have already been to Whisky Bridge, Mason, Post Oak Creek, and Texoma. Any ideas? We will have from Tuesday 12/10 until next Sunday 12/15. Are open to just about anywhere in and around Texas.

I've never given much thought to it but we had a guy that hunted with us a long time ago near Sonora and I think he spent more time looking at the ground for rocks, fossils, arrowheads, etc....than deer......old man that was an engineer on the Denison Dam, Texoma, had an unbelievable arrow head collection from the Red River, I'm talking thousands of them, absolutely incredible collection just drawer after drawer of them and certain collections in shadow boxes......he was in his 90s and that was over 20 years ago.

Thanks, but you aren't allowed to disturb or remove the rocks. We want to bring some nice/interesting things home.

Post oak creek in Sherman Texas is a great place to find shark teeth including the rarer ptychodus shell crusher shark teeth. To find the best teeth you need to walk down the creek about a mile as all of the closer spots are picked over just about daily. But they are there and not all that hard to find if you put in a little work.
