    Mistletoe is good food

The guys at camp were giving me grief for taking mistletoe to the stand. This big boy sure liked it. Ate on it for several minutes. Of course since I don't have any buck tags left...

zoom in or either lower your stand so you have a shot inside 30 yards.

Sorry about the quality, my camera zoom is acting up so I had to go with what I had. After seeing all the great photos on this site, I'm hoping that Santa will bring me a new one.

Oh, and believe it or not that is a 20 yard shot. I'm just pretty high in a big live oak stand.

They love it. I use to watch deer trying to get it out of mesquite trees in West Texas.

                    "Quarterback"
Thanks for the post, looks like it would have been a money shot if you had some open buck tags.
I hope Santa brings you a slick camera this year.

I spoke with Larry Weishuhn at a Bass Pro Fall Event here in Grapevine a few years ago and he said if you really want to get a new feed location or bait pile started, go pull down a bunch of "mistletoe" to get the deer hitting the area hard.

He made reference to how you don't see any mistletoe on the low branches, especially in pastureland where deer or cattle can reach up and pull it down.

Never tried it myself, too high up in the East Texas trees.

I read a post about it here. Climbed up in a tree in Knippa and cut down a bunch of clumps and put it out in Uvalde that afternoon. The deer devoured every morsel. Now I just have to figure out how to apply it to make a kill.

Read about it. Cut it and tried it. Did not work. Placed in front of trail cam and video eating corn but no mistletoe. Watched them in person eating corn but no mistletoe. Maybe I should try it again, those deer may have been allergic to the stuff.
