Question for those running timed protein...

Saw on another forum that they fight moisture and have to shovel out protein pretty often - you guys experiencing this?

I run mine open all day. Close at night.
    No issues in 12 years

What feeder type? There has to be something left on the shelves/trays to have issues.

Unless it is real green I don't have any left on my ASFs and when I do they are protected pretty well by design. I know on the Lamcos on our place the guys that have some left over in the trays have to shovel some out from time to time but its an easy process. Our deer do a pretty good job of cleaning them out. The cleanup crew consisting of coons and porcupines get the remainder..

Not sure just said it "cakes" up on the inside since it is not free flow - think of getting timed for attractant more than anything

Somebody with higher consistent humidity could answer that better. I have not had that issue, but we are in West Texas. We have had 9" of rain since Sept 1 and plenty of humidity (much higher than normal) but still no issues for me.

Knock on wood, but no problems so far with two All Seasons and two Ranch King protein feeders.

I have 4 Lamco timed trough feeders. I live in west Texas, and in my area we only average about 20" rain/year. In years of using these feeders, I've only had to shovel muck out of them a couple times. It is a non problem for me. I could see it potentially being a problem in an area that receives a lot more rain than we do here though.

I’d say if you’re in an area that receives more than 30 inches a year with the lamcos you might have some issues with feed getting wet. If so I would run a cell cam on feeder to keep up with consumption

I have 5 Lamco's running, so far no issues in Childress, I did have a problem with it a few years ago over in Wilbarger County, was feeding more than what the deer were consuming, then came a week of rain, had to scoop out about 5-6 inches of mush, and it stank. I run about 20 % corn, 20 % roasted soybean, and about 60 % protein in my timed Lamco's feeders now.

I get caking on the inside (in the hopper) of my AS timed protein stand and fill. I’m near Rocksprings.
