Never had any luck with a snort/wheeze or a buck roar/growler. I use an extinguisher for a grunt/bleat for it's simplicity switching back and forth from one to the other.
This year the bucks are bellowing. I have heard grunts, and snort wheezes, but this is the first year they are bellowing. I could not believe it until I saw it and I have seen it 3 times this year. Anyone else heard whitetails bellow?

The 140 public land buck I killed was roaring like a red stag. You could hear him 100 yards away.
I wheeze with my mouth and have called in every mature buck I’ve wheezed at. Grunt calls are all the same. They either gonna respond or they ain’t
I do the snort wheeze with my mouth. I have had numerous deer text to it, with a few come check it out. If nothing else, it has stopped them where you might get a shot. I prefer it over a grunt.
We have a 3 (approximately) year old 8 that is very vocal. I really have not heard anything like that on our place before. He is always running around grunting.
I won’t wheeze unless I think he’s mature and probably dominant. If they are they will not tolerate it and they are coming EVERY TIME. grunts are a safer bet with younger bucks who will run from a wheeze. When you call one on a wheeze it’s done… if you can get the shot!
I mouth wheezed a buck last week and he headed straight towards me and got to within 50 yds. I had no interest in shooting him so I did it just to see what he would do.
