I am confused what is going on with the entire situation myself.

When I had my vasectomy the doctor made sure I knew reversal was full blow cut your nuts open surgery, no simple out patient stuff.

Wow! Didn't know that. I had two more kids after my vasectomy and didn't go through anything like that (I adopted )

Ive had zero since mine 10 years ago and plan on keeping it that way.

I got one last October. Was a non-event and no issues.

The procedure was straight forward. Little pin ***** when they hit me with the local anesthesia. After that took effect they stabbed me again for a heavier dose of local anesthesia. Doc started doing her thing and what I felt was some pressure in my groin/lower stomach. You know that nauseous feeling you get after you get popped in the jewels? It was a combo of that and pressure in my groin area. No sharp pain or anything, just a dull uncomfortable feeling.

After it was done I drove myself home. Followed docs orders for a few days I didn’t lift anything heavy, at night I’d ice with frozen peas/corn, I didn’t work out for about 2 weeks. I didn’t have any pain after the procedure. In fact the worst “pain” I had in the recovery phase was when the tag end of a stitch caught in my underwear and gave a good pull. That wasn’t very comfortable.

I was out running errands with the wife the next day. I had no real down time, just took it easy and wore tight fitting underwear to keep everything from moving around. Dressed the incisions like they said to, ect ect.


Wore protection for the next 4 weeks, hit the number of endings they said to hit, then went to get tested. No swimmers and back to normal life I went.

Did mine while the wife was preggoo's with our second. It was easy and pretty much painless except for the shots. I did have to test it out that night just to make sure It still worked. paid for that the next day.

I got mine done in May gave me local anesthesia and laughing gas to get through the 15 minute procedure. I think mine was more mental than physical but I did not enjoy recovery time, it felt as though something was hanging from them the whole time. Also, remember take it easy. I have a hard time sitting still. I stepped on something that made one of my feet slip and did a little mini split in the front yard and one of my kids jumped in my lap the day after. Those were first two times I teared up in a long time.

Had mine done 20 years ago.

The wife was going thru nursing school at the time and was there for the entire surgery. When they were finished, the cute nurse had to hold pressure in the incision to stop some bleeding. So there I was laying on my back, wife on my left and the nurse on my right holding my junk. I looked at my wife and said, I thought this scenario would be different. The nurse busted out laughing.

I got mine on a friday afternoon then went to party at the Russian House downtown. Basically, completely ignored Doc's recovery recommendations. I had some groin pain the next day but not horrible. The worst part of the procedure was the numbing injections. Doc used one of the injectors with a trigger like a gun. He would count down 3..2..1.. then inject multiple times. Felt fine after a day or so but the girl I was dating thought it was hilarious that I couldnt fool around for a week and tried to make me miserable as possible.
