    Bald eagle

I found a bald eagle with a coot for breakfast yesterday. When I sat there too long with the camera pointed at him, it decided to use takeout. He looked to make sure the carcass or what was left of it was still there, I assume because it was heavier when he carried it up to the original spot to eat. This is in Colorado County.

I have seen it when all the coot dive under water as an eagle approaches and I guess each coot tries not to be the first one back up. It is a sight to see a couple hundred of coot disappear below the water all at once.

On fall trip to fayette county one year we watched coots dive under and come up with a beak of grass to eat. More often than not a gadwall would wait for them to surface and DeeBo the grass from them and eat it. Down the coot would go again. Quite commical

Friday evening about 8 miles west of Menard there was a mature Bald Eagle male eating on a coon carcass in the middle of Hwy 190. I had surgery on my hand so was unable to photograph and drive. He flew off as I approached, made a U turn and landed back on supper after I passed.
