How many of yall have shot a Pope and young and just decided not to enter them? How much trouble is it? Any reason to do it other than getting the certificate?

I have shot a handful that would make the book. I entered the first one due to peer pressure from a friend. I have not entered any since that first one. I doubt I will ever enter another one. I do not care if my name is on page 1000 of a book. I also think nets are for fishing and a buck should get credit for everything he grows, and not deductions. Anyway, their game, their rules.
It is not difficult to enter a deer. Just have to get it scored by a certified scorer, fill out some paperwork, and send it in with the appropriate fee.

Any Boone & Crockett scorer can score a P&Y, but not the other way around.
I did it so I could say I pulled a P&Y off walk-in public land from pure hunting and no bait.

One here, no desire to deal with it. (part lazy/ part too busy)
I know what I got, it's on the wall.
For those that have gone through the process, no shaming here- I'm not downing on those who have, I just did not.
Congrats TN_boy, that's pretty cool!Last edited by DaveC; 11-19-2024, 11:23 PM.

I've only shot 2 P&Y-class animals, a spot-and-stalk pronghorn and a public land whitetail. Entered them both and the certificates are hanging next to each. I have no problems with P&Y. Nice way to recognize the quality of the animal. And, the data is entered as part of a nationwide dataset. Always interesting to look at data and trends that wouldn't be possible without the standardized data set. Same with B&C.
