The 308 was another story. After 4 shots and a hot barrel, they went all over the place. Once I let it cool between shots, it drove tacks.
I had this same experience with mine running a suppressor in .308 first 4 shots were great then started opening up some when it got hot. But it's the perfect little loaner gun for what I have in it. All the inlaws and friends can shoot it and not tear up my nice 2-3k rifles.

This is not helping me because I’m jonesing hard for this rifle in 300BO for a super quit suppressed pig killing gun.

You can shoot a compact rifle when you grow up also

I'm looking right now at getting a new rifle in a lighter caliber for my daughters to use. Do yall think the Gen 2 is worth $110 more than the Gen 1? $419 vs $529 at Academy right now.

Yes, I would pay $110 more for the Gen II. Other than the loud blast from the brake, I like many features of the Gen II over the original American. Besides, what's $110 over the life of a firearm?

Where did you find the Gen 2 in 7 PRC ? Are they in stores yet ? I personally haven't seen any.

I have a REM 700 as my 300BO bolt gun. Started as a $79 Walmart clearance ADL, threw a 300BO barrel on it and love it. Suppressed subs are laughably quiet. The American would make a fantastic platform for it. My buddy has a Gen1 American Ranch in 300bo and loves it.

I mainly hunt with a gen1 American Predator in 308. It has shot phenomenally from the first shots out of the rifle. I shoot handloads now, and it will stack them on top of eachother. Aside from the accuracy, what I really enjoy about it is the fact that I don’t have to worry about it getting dinged up. Yea it’s a cheap rifle, yes the stock leaves a lot to be desired, but it’s a battle wagon of a hunting rifle. I have a few gouges/scuffs on the stock that would break my heart if it was a wood stocked rifle, but it just adds a little character to the American and no big deal.

                        I would spend the extra.
A huge fan of the three position safety this newer model now has.
Plus the flutes look cool and the thicker / less flexible stock has got to be an improvement over gen 1.

pull the break off and install a thread protector or linear comp to reduce the noise perceived at the shooters end.

I have a want for one of these, but entirely no need.

make it a 16” barrel and I’ll get even more interested.

I won one up here at a raffle for the VFD.
6.5 manbun. That little rifle will print cloverleafs or better all day with barnes 127 gr LRX bullets.

                            Yes.
I have made improvements to my Gen 1 that Gen 2 has improved upon. Gen 1 magazine was one of the weak spots that has been fixed.

I bought the Gen 2 in a 308 for my son and have been very impressed with it. In my opinion well worth the extra money
