    re-introducing predators to TX wma's

i came across some interesting information that several red wolves, black bear and cougars along with north-eastern doe were released into east texas by biologists. i was also told that during the same activity as many a 60 feral hogs were baited and shot. seems like tpwd is fighting back against the hog problem. i applaud their approach to hog management if this is in fact true.

has the gs heard of any similar stories?

According to us fish and wildlife website only place red wolves have been reinterduced was North Carolina...

I had heard bears but not about anything else. HOGs definitely need to be eradicated it is a travesty at this point.

So the plan to get rid of hogs is to bring in predators that maim and eat people?!?

                  I'd rather have the hogs!

                        Oh boy here we go.

I worked recently with several Wma managers and have not heard anything about this going on. But i guess it is only a matter of time before PETA institutes their "human hunter" control program in Texas. The conspiracy grows.....(previous statement intended to be read with extreme sarcasm)

I would have to see a press release by TPWD before I would believe it. The killing pigs part I could believe, but predator release would get a press release.

Not only would there be a press release but the "save the wolf" groups would have it spread all over their web sites.....
This sounds more like a stir the pot thread

didn't TPWD keep the release of the bears a secret until videos appeared of the bears?

the first I heard of bears being in Texas again was from Marys video, after that I started seeing the TPWD statements. Whose to say they didn't do the same with red wolves?
