    Q for Electricians and Stayed-at-Motel-6-Last-Nighters

    The boss has demanded that my euro process move away from the house. The smell of decomposing flesh is offensive. Blah blah blah.

    I need to be running 3 or 4 150 watt aquarium heaters at a time. Need to know what a 30 amp, 120 plug can handle. What about a 20 amp? I am guessing all four going to one plug would be too much. OR, it is no different than running 4 150 watt light bulbs on a single wire?

    For what it's worth (if it matters) the box or instructions on the heaters give only watts, not amps pulled.

    I welcome any related recommendations or thoughts.

    Thanks in advance!

    I don't have a lot of experience with electricity, Trey, but if I were in your shoes I'd get on TBH and ask if anyone has any advice. Hope this helps.

        Watts=voltsxamps so
        110vXA=150
        150/110=1.36amp/ heater
        20 amp circuit can run 13-14 heaters
        15 amp can run 10-11

        4 is not a problem for a circuit or 1 outlet.

          If you only stay at the motel six for an hour does that count?

            I agree with what has already been said. you have plenty of room for those heaters on a 20A or even 15A circuit. I would add that as a general rule of thumb I do not load breakers to more than 80% of their rating (16A for a 20A breaker) as a safety precaution to prevent overheating for continuous loads.

                You are good with a regular receptacle, as already stated. If resistive heaters, voltage drop won’t be an issue either, just might not get full rated output.

                    There you go. Freaking rain man converted volts to amps to watts….

                    Electrical calculations are harder than a 13yr olds….nevermind.
