For those who’ve killed scimitar oryx

Not a bow hunt so what rifle caliber? My go to rifles are 257 Weatherby with 100gr Barnes ttsx and the 264 win mag with 130ge Accubonds
yes they are both accurate, distance is unimportant to me and I can certainly put the bullet where I want to put it

if this should be in “the other side of the ranch “ obviously feel free to move it

Either of those two will do just fine.

I think I’ll most likely put that 100gr Barnes right at the base of the neck just in front of the shoulder.. it’s always been the stop button on everything else

Either gun would be perfect. They are much smaller than i thought, i was thinking the size of a nilgai but was suprised when i walked up to my bull oryx. Once you gut them, they get even smaller. I was able to load and unload my oryx alone from my pickup. They are very good eating and try to get some roast or steaks from yours instead of just grinding or sausage.

I have shot a handful of them with a 257 weatherby with 110 accubonds. I generally shoot them in the neck, but you can shoot them in the shoulder as well. Remember vitals are farther forward than you may think.

All the vitals are lower and more forward than whitetails. Look at some diagrams on shot placement, straight up the front leg not behind the shoulder. Placement is key. Post up some pics.

Aim small miss small, you’ll be ok

                    I’ve shot them with a 6.5x284 Norma Berger 140gr. VLD & a .257Wby 127gr Barnes TTSX. Barnes did better.

I know it's shot placement. I thought I hit a good shot with 30.06 on Oxyx management hunt. It didn't fall so shot it again.
