Not hearing many shots

Out here in Blanco county. Not seeing many deer. Heat and drought might be to blame but since Saturday afternoon I have only hears 3 shots and they were distant. Is this the reality where you are?

Nope, heard 8 shots on the neighboring place opening weekend. Had good neighbors over there before but it sold. New owners this year and it seems they like to shoot.

We are outside of Palestine Texas and have heard very few shots. Local feed store said everyone says they aren't seeing much deer movement. I had about a 3 second opportunity on a nice buck but just couldn't make it happen.....

Saw a buck chasing a doe for a few hundred yards yesterday morning. Im up near the Red River border. Most of our older bucks that were consistent havent been showing up or are showing up occasionally at night.

We're outside Palestine too and have heard very few shots. We've also seen very few deer. I did get my target buck on Saturday evening, but that was a case of seeing the right deer, but not many deer.

I used to have that issue when I hunted near Huntsville. Always during prime hunting times. It was obvious it was purposely done.

I'm also south of Palestine. Deer are no longer coming to the feeder, I'll be there this week to try to get my target deer!. Did manage a doe, first kill in my new property!.

We are in Blanco county also, have not been many shots around us as well. Few things I tend to think has an effect is the amount of acorns in our area this year and the rut was in full swing this last weekend on our place. Bucks were locked in hard on does and many does are not coming to our feeders right now. I wouldn’t be thinking about eating either if I only had 3 weeks to get it on.

I saw 1 mature buck, passed him hoping my son might get a shot. He was all alone walking slow. Saw two6 points this morning and 5 doe and the bucks had no interest in the girls. I just knew id see ls of chasing.
