    Transporting several game mounts ?

OK we are about to haul several game mounts to our new hunting lodge, I have an enclosed trailer, was thinking about hanging them on the walls of the trailer, one idea was to screw a piece of plywood into the back of the mount and then screw the plywood to the wall of the trailer, some of the mounts are pedestal type mounts, not sure the best way to hang them in the trailer, may have to just lay on floor with plenty of padding around them, anyone have any better method ? thanks

I hauled over 50 mounts from Lubbock to Rogers in my enclosed trailer. Mine had a wooden floor and I screwed portions of fence pickets to the back of the mount that were wall mounts and screwed them to the floor. The pedestal mounts I used benches I built to put them thru the top of the benches and helped susp[ende them thru the top rails with rachet straps and tighgtened them so they would not move much. I had to take the full body mounts off the bases and do that to them too. No damage on any mount. I will see if I can finds some pics.

I guess it would be easier if I just bought some fence picket or some 1 x 6 wood in place of plywood. Thanks for the tip

Hopefully these pics will give you an idea of how I did my transfers. The benches I built were used for some full body mounts and some pedestal mounts. The Lioness and Nyala full body mounts were on these but like I said I used bubble wrap around the body and ran them thru the top rails of the rood supports in the trailer. I tightened them just enough so they could move a hair, but not sway a lot and not hopefully rub any hair off the mount.

The pic thru the side door of the Elk and Sable are the tops of the floor pedestal bases that I attached portions of fence pickets to the bottoms and screwed them to the trailer floor.
The pic of the whitetail and Klippy on thoase base is how I did the Lioness and Nyale, but with the staps to help.

Yup, wood screwed to the wall or floor !
Kind of same concept, when they shipped my safari, from Africa.
If it survived that run, I’m sure they’ll make it out west.

Most taxidermy transporters I’ve dealt with screw them to the floor.

I would do that but I have a 10 foot brown bear that has to go on the floor, he will take a lot of floor space, thanks for the tips guys, about to get started.

It took me 3 trips to get all my critters to the new place!

Put the bear in a hammock and tether the hammock to the trailer walls so it doesn’t swing.

I masterful job of securing taxidermy for transport. Very impressed.

My biggest problem was not getting them from Lubbock to Rogers, BUT getting them up this!

Wow. Very impressive staircase. Was it cantilevered by hand?

Not sure. We bought this house in 2020 and it had been built in 2010/2011. We got some mounts up by carrying them up, some we tied ropes to the horns and lifted them up. The big heavy critters we did this:

We rented an electric lift we could get thru the front door and my FIL hired 2 young men from a moving company to help. We got her done with no damaged to anything!

All the bases for the steps are inserted into the large main support beam.. It does not move or creek whne you go up or down it.
