They may be fine. But, I always give does a pass when they have fawns with them. Now, a nice skillet head all alone is freezer bound! I have a big one on ice now.
Does will have fawns up to the last year of their life and virtually all does will get bred every year. Some does, however are just too incompetent to get their fawns raised. They tend to lose them every year. That is why we only shoot does that don't have fawns with them at this time. Not having to nurse will make them heavier and more tender as well.
