What is eating my tree. I have a 20 year old redbud tree in my yard. I noticed the bark had holes in it. I touched it and the bark came off. There was sawdust, really small fast bugs, and a worm. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Some kind of beetle got into mind several years ago. Still living but has a scar. The bark has grown over part of the scar area. -
Those are some species of bark borers. Our redbud succumbed to them this year after about 2 years.Comment

I didn’t think those boar beetles got after red oaks. I do know that 3-4 years ago I lost 24 Elm trees to those bastawds. The lady at the nursery said there is a cheap powder available but you apply in the spring only. It’s too late for that tree. You know Porcupines will do that sort of damage too.Comment
