    Bugs on trees

What is eating my tree. I have a 20 year old redbud tree in my yard. I noticed the bark had holes in it. I touched it and the bark came off. There was sawdust, really small fast bugs, and a worm. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Some kind of beetle got into mind several years ago. Still living but has a scar. The bark has grown over part of the scar area.

Those are some species of bark borers. Our redbud succumbed to them this year after about 2 years.

I didn’t think those boar beetles got after red oaks. I do know that 3-4 years ago I lost 24 Elm trees to those bastawds. The lady at the nursery said there is a cheap powder available but you apply in the spring only. It’s too late for that tree. You know Porcupines will do that sort of damage too.

That’s not porcupine damage. You can see the sawdust…
