Salt water bank fishing, PART 2

Second question about fishing in Matagorda. We are staying at the Matagorda Bay LCRA RV Park with a Colorado River side site. Nothing behind us. How much of this water is actually fresh at this point. Not far from the Gulf. Thanks.

I’m going to say not very fresh. Fresh water rides above salt water. A little fresh should have no effect once you’re under the surface. But, I don’t live down that way and have not heard of a lot of rain down there so I could be completely wrong.

Virtually zero fresh water at that point.

        ^^^this

You're at the mouth of the river to the gulf. Unless there's epic rains upriver, it will all be saltwater there.

We've caught redfish and trout out of the river there, but mostly, it's hardheads, whiting, rays, and eels. The eels are the worst. I prefer to go down the beach and fish the surf.

I didn't really think there would be much fresh water, especially with the lack of rain inland.

I appreciate the info on what I might catch in that area. We will not mess with there unless someone is fishing and catching something decent. The is a dock on that side of the RVs.

That dock is lit at night too. My buddies son caught a huge black drum off it one night.
