    Car Title Question

My daughter is going to be in the market for a new car within the next 6-8 months. She plans on trading in the car she is currently driving, however that car is currently titled in my name. Do we need to get the title transferred to her before she can trade it in...or can I just be present at the dealership with title in hand and sign it over to dealership?

There is a form you can print or get from the DMV where you can gift it to her. Then she can get the title in her name before that day.

My daughter did the same while living out of state & the dealership just sent us a power of attorney form to sign. I had similar concerns before she when car shopping, but it is a lot simpler than I imagined.

I just bought a pickup from a nephew and he'd lost the title. It took lots of running around till I got the power of attorney form from DMV and he signed it. Took it to Rigeonal DMV and walked out with replacement title in his name. Then I took it to local DMV office and was issued a title the same day in my name.

just sign the title when she does the deal , if your there even better. but you might be better off selling it outright, or at least try until she is ready to buy.
