    Shoot through mesh on popup

How much does shooting through the mesh in a pop up effect point of impact? Assuming a tuned bow and sharp fixed blade broadhead. I got on a new lease with few trees worthy of a stand and I will have to be in the stand with my son due to lease rules. He has hunted from a tree solo the last two years but can’t at this lease until he is 18 so we will be giving hunting from a pop up a try.

I’ve done it a few times and didn’t have a change of impact. Now saying that I’ve since gone away from the mesh, it cuts time off your available light early and late because of the visibility. I hunt very pressured spooky deer, so I started leaving the window I shoot through down and will sit to the side of the open window and then lean over to shoot. This has worked way better for me than using the mesh.

Don’t worry, no issues shooting through mesh.

I’ve not had a problem using a cut on contact head up to 25 yards. I didn’t shoot through mesh on turkeys because I used a mechanical head.

Thanks for the input. I will have him practice some prior but didn’t want to ruin the screen practicing if it wasn’t going to work in the end anyway.

I’ve killed a train car load of critter shooting thru mesh. The one and only problem caused by the mesh was trying to shoot thru it at an extreme angle. That was with feathers and the quill caught on the mesh and screwed it all up. Moderate angles are no problem. Keep the mesh as tight as you can; don’t let it be floppy.

This is very important. You want that mesh to cut under tension so it seperates away from the arrow instantly.

I’ve never had an issue with shooting through it either. To me, the most important benefit is the ability for the hunter to basically move at will. As long as you don’t get within about a foot of the screen, your movements will not be seen. No more getting busted trying to draw.

Never had an issue before but prefer not to. Typically, we will cut a 2"x5" slit and shoot through that. Still have the advantage of the mesh without the possibility of it causing an issue on the shot.

I never could make myself try it. I open only 1 window just enough to shoot and would use the net on the sides. I've never been spotted or winded in a pop-up blind doing this
