    Wounded buck from last season.

So let me start by saying I made a poor shot on a really nice buck last season. High in the shoulder and he survived to come back to the feeder a week later. When i made it back to the lease around Thanksgiving he had changed his pattern with the rut and only saw him one other time a ways off running a doe. Fast forward to this season he is back and although he has the same frame not near as big as last season. It could be the dry year out west along with the stress of the wound. I keep telling myself I am going to kill him if given the chance but some times i don’t know. What would yall do? End the saga or give him another year and see what happens??

last year versus this year. best pic i’ve got of him so far.

You know what happened to the buck I hair lipped last year. And I'm looking at a pedestal mount of another I had a 7x57 round miss fire on only to arrow the following October

The history and chance to finish the story would trump caring about him declining some imo.

He’s a mature buck with great brows, I’d probably take him if I were you.

Subliminal message to tell you how to vote.LOL.

Justin kill that deer before the nursing home calls him back. I don’t know your deer but the picture from last year he looks old to me. Could be on the decline. Good luck hunting him.

I would kill him given the opportunity.
I shot and lost a buck in October of 2020, and I was sick about losing him. He wasn’t a giant but still a solid 150 class buck. He showed back up on camera in late December, and I was able to kill him in ‘21. It was closure for me and made for a cool story.

If he's down and you question it then you know the right answer already. He's proven he's a survivor and will get better again on the right yr if given the chance. Good luck on what ever you decide

Decline on a deer by age is nothing but a myth. As long as a deer still has teeth he can always get better regardless of age. Deer go up and down throughout thier whole life.

depends on how you wanna play it. I’ll give you the other side of the coin

Down antler size could definitely be from him putting more energy and nutrients into healing back up.
As long as he ain’t walking funky or showing any worse for the wear, you could give him another season to rebound if you ain’t hurting on bucks. He’s mature but he’s not an old man….after he’s healed up 100%, he could be back to a bruiser next year.
but as others said….be a neat little story and I wouldn’t blame you if you took it asap.
