    Red Deer

While hunting on our new lease my buddy had an encounter with a red stag yesterday evening, we have heard reports of them in the area just never laid eyes on one until now. I know it’s a long shot but is there anything they like to eat in particular? We are feeding corn and protein thought about alfalfa when it’s gets cold? Just curious if anyone has had any experience with them. This is north Texas.

    thanks

I had a few coming in last year and they hammered the alfalfa I put out for them. They would go through 2 bails a week.

Good to know on the alfalfa, I think I’ll try that and hope the deer will eat it as well.

That’s what we have heard, and it was stag. We only bow hunt so it’s going to be a challenge. But we’re going to give it a go all season and feed some alfalfa in addition to our other feed. We also have 30acres of wheat we will keep an eye on.

The whitetail, axis, and black buck in my area all love the alfalfa. We feed it about half the year.
