    Elk VS Whitetail Score

So what size bull elk equals a 150” whitetail? I know very little about elk hunting and was discussing this with my cousins from WA state who kill elk every year.

I saw on another forum where a guy said one half of what the elk actually scores.

So a 400” elk would be like a 200” whitetail, 300” elk would be like a 150” whitetail, and a 250” elk would be like a 125” whitetail.

Im not an authority on elk, but that sounded reasonable to me.

      I’d compare a 150” WT to a 330” Elk. Just my opinion

I would say a 150 WT is equal to about a 320 Elk. A 160 WT would be about a 340 Elk. Where you are hunting at can sure make a difference in how you make that comparison though.

Using B&C numbers, a 150 wt is 88.2% of what it takes to make book as a typical (170). For an american elk 88.2% of 375 (B&C minimum) is 331. Until I used these numbers, I would have said 320.

What an interesting way to come up with an answer.

                I would agree with that.

Thinking lout loud here but I think a 150" WT is harder to find than a 300" elk. We have tons of elk all over the mountains that can get to 300" with age. You have to wade through a ton to find them but we have a ton of elk anyway. 150" WT is still a pretty big buck to find on a low fence hunt.
