    Uninvited Guest

Doing some late prep work on my ground blind at the house, had a wasp nest in there I needed to take care of. In the process I noticed a small pile of corn in the corner, I assumed maybe a rat or something was living in there eating the corn from my feeder, but then I saw in the corner a coiled up copperhead. Can't have that guy hanging out in there, had to take his head.

I don't know, do snakes eat deer corn? Or was this guy waiting to ambush whatever was stockpiling the corn in there?

See, this is why anyone born north of I20 should be forced to spend two years in Pasadena and drink nothing but tap water.

That crap will take the yankee out of anyone.

If you're over 50 you better check with a 2500 lumen light. Ask me how I know?

think there's more? I'll definitely be wary climbing in, that's for sure!

A rodent brought the corn in. The rodent brought the snake in. There's for sure more snakes around.

This has always been my biggest fear when hunting ground blinds

I think you got bigger problems. Looks to me like something was stockpiling ingredients for copperhead corn chowder. Sasquatch maybe??

A long time ago I hunted an old stand that sat flat on the ground with no bottom in it. The knucklehead that built it made the opening at the bottom - rear of it and it was only 14” tall and flipped up so it was a belly crawl in . I still hunted it but every time I slithered in or out of there I had Anxiety lol.

Lol, hunting ain't for the faint of heart. I've abandoned my preferred elevated ladder stands and tripods over a back injury and dang bees. Pop-up is too hot and was full of spiders and wasps. I now take a more challenging hunt by just setting a trail on a stool next to a tree, the challenge is not getting into poison ivy 😁
